Who we are
Bunbury Illicit Testing Services is a local family-owned and operated business that tests for Methamphetamine residue contamination. We can test for contamination in residential properties, commercial properties and vehicles.
The health and wellbeing of our clients and their families is paramount. Our mission is to provide a high quality and ethical methamphetamine testing service to the local community of the South-West.
What we do
Bunbury Illicit Testing Services offers both Rapid and NIOSH 9111 testing for Methamphetamine residue. Rapid testing enables us to determine if a premises or vehicle is contaminated instantly whilst NIOSH 9111 testing allows us to ascertain an exact reading of the contamination level once confirmed positive by rapid testing. A rapid test sample level can be conducted at 0.2µg and 0.5µg. 0.5µg is the level at which anything tested above this reading is deemed “contaminated” by the Australia Guidelines. A NIOSH 9111 sample is a wipe sample test that is conducted and placed into a vial to be sent to a Laboratory in Perth to be analysed. Whether you elect to do the rapid testing or NIOSH 9111 testing, we produce a tailor-made report for your property after the testing has been completed.
Our services are available, but not limited to, first home buyers, investors / landlords, tenants and property managers. Give us a call or send us an email to enquire about how we can help you with your situation or requirements.
What is Methamphetamine?
Methamphetamine is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the Central Nervous System of a person (CNS). Methamphetamine comes in the three forms of Ice, Base and Speed. Ice is a crystal-like substance with an extremely high potency. Base is a white to brown like substance that has a medium to high potency whilst speed is a white to off-white type powder substance that has a low to medium potency.
All three forms act initially as a stimulant but after time begin to systematically destroy the human body.
Research from the National Drug Strategy Household Survey 2016 showed that from a period of 2010 to 2016, among the people that used Methamphetamines, there was a 36% increase in the use of Ice and a 30% decrease in the use of Speed whilst data from the National Wastewater Drug Monitoring Program (2016 to 2019) indicated that Methamphetamine was the highest consumed illicit drug in Australia.
Why test for Methamphetamine contamination?
The use and manufacture of Methamphetamine is a scourge on society and a problem that is not going away. The problem with leftover residue from Methamphetamine use is that it is rarely visible and generally you won’t know that there is a problem until once you have purchased or leased your house and move in unless you have it tested by a trained and accredited technician.
Before spending a large sum of money on a house or signing a long term lease on a property, having it tested can give you the peace of mind that you and your family will be safe from the side effects of Methamphetamine use and manufacture.
What are the side effects of Methamphetamine?
Side effects from Methamphetamine depend on the level of contamination and time of exposure but can include and be not limited to:
- Irritated skin
- Burning / Sore / Watery eyes
- Feeling weak or dizzy
- Shortness of breath
- Trouble sleeping
How can this affect me and my family?
A property that has been contaminated by the use and/ or manufacture of Methamphetamine can affect:
- You and your family’s health
- The value of your property
- Potential insurance claim/s
- Your savings as decontamination can be expensive depending on the level of contamination.
Do we offer decontamination services?
In short, we do not carry out decontamination services due to the fact that our initial work can create a conflict of interest if we were to diagnose, decontaminate and re-test out own work to clear your property.
In the event we test your property and it’s positive and you elect to have the NIOSH 9111 sampling completed, we can happily point you in the right direction if a reputable business that can offer a decontamination service to your property.
